Recently, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the non-state higher education institution STARS International University and the Council of the Tashkent City Branch of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Uzbekistan. At the event, attended by over 120 participants from both sides, attendees were provided with detailed explanations of the opportunities offered by the trade union for university staff and students.
Abduhalil Rahmonov, Chairman of the Council of the Tashkent City Branch of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Uzbekistan, expressed his gratitude to the university's management and noted that making all students members of the trade union is another clear example of care for them. Previously, in some universities, student membership fees were deducted from their scholarships, but now these fees have been completely abolished.
"STARS International University has presented an unprecedented case in the history of trade unions by having membership fees deducted not from student scholarships, but from the university's budget for each student, equivalent to the minimum wage in the Republic of Uzbekistan. This amount is essentially twice as much as the total monthly scholarship in any university in Uzbekistan," the chairman emphasized.
In his speech, Bahram Gurbanov noted that STARS International University and its grand successes, recognized today by many both in the Central Asian region and abroad, are the result of the wise and competent reform policy pursued by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. On behalf of the entire university, he expressed sincere gratitude to the head of state.
