STARS, Azercosmos, and the Diplomacy of the Future: Shaping the Turkic World's Space Architecture
The Nowruz holidays marked a period of strategic advancements and international collaboration for STARS University.
Particular attention was given to an official meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan, Bahrom Ashrafkhanov. During a warm and constructive discussion, opportunities for diplomatic and organizational support for the international project "Maydanak", initiated by STARS University, were explored.
A meeting also took place with the senior management of the Azerbaijan Republic's space agency, Azercosmos, where possibilities for the agency's participation in the project's implementation were discussed. The initiative garnered significant interest, and prospects for Azercosmos joining the international consortium are under consideration.
The "Maydanak" project aims to establish a cutting-edge center in Uzbekistan for aerospace technologies, scientific research, and space tourism. It is being implemented in line with key decrees from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and within the framework of the Agreement on Allied Relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, signed in 2024.
During the visit, an agreement was reached on signing a memorandum of cooperation between Azercosmos and STARS University within the context of the meeting of leaders of space agencies from the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) countries, scheduled to take place in Baku on April 23, 2025.
The "Maydanak" project is more than just an academic initiative. It is a step towards establishing Uzbekistan's new technological leadership in the Turkic world. It serves as a diplomatic, scientific, and educational bridge to the future.
